Hiking and trekking in the Ile-Alatau Mountain Park -
Kumbeltau Peak is a mountain peak located at an altitude of 3620 meters above sea level in the Trans-Ili Alatau Mountains within the city of Almaty, not to be confused with Kumbel Peak, these are two different peaks. The peak is very popular among fans of outdoor activities and mountain hiking. Usually, the path to the peak takes two days and begins in the Gorelnik gorge with an overnight stay under the peak and the next day an ascent to the peak and then return along the ascent path. This route can be completed in one day, it all depends on your physical fitness and desire. On the way to the peak, you will pass the Gorelnik waterfall and the Trapezium Mountain pass. The peak offers a beautiful mountain panorama, you will see the Tereshkova peak and the Young Geolog peak. The peak also has a good view of the Kumbelsu River valley and the Big Almaty River valley, the Big Almaty Lake, the Dzhusaly-Kezen mountain pass and the Cosmostation on the pass. You will also see Big Almaty Peak, Tourist Peak, Sovetov Peak, Abay Peak and the city of Almaty will lie in the palm of your hand.

Safety in the mountains -
When hiking to Kumbeltau Peak, be sure to use the services of certified mountain guides. Mountain guides will prepare you for the hike, instruct you and safely guide you along the route. Do not go to the mountains alone, do not leave the path, do not go close to rocky cliffs, snow cornices and turbulent rivers. Properly calculate your physical strength for staying in the mountains, if you feel unwell, know how to stop and turn back in time, inform the mountain guide about your condition. Watch the weather and choose clear sunny days for your trip. During the hike, always stay in a group so that everyone is always in sight of each other, always wait for those who lag behind. Do not walk in the mountains at night and in the dark. Properly calculate your time in the mountains, try to return in the afternoon before dusk and complete darkness, be sure to consult with mountain guides about this. For hiking in the mountains, use special sportswear and equipment. Do not go to the mountains in flip-flops, slippers and light soft shoes, take care of your feet, your feet should be protected by reliable mountain shoes for trekking and hiking with ankle fixation. Do not forget about mountain sickness and the need for acclimatization in a mountainous area for a further comfortable stay in the mountains.
