Maxim Gorky Rock on the shore of Lake Borovoe

Geology of Burabay National Park in Kazakhstan -

Walk around Lake Auliekol (Borovoye) -

On the shore of one of the most picturesque lakes in Kazakhstan - Borovoye, as if growing out of the water itself, stands the Maxim Gorky Rock. It stands here like a frozen wave, a silent witness of time, nature and history. This place attracts the eye, excites the heart and gives a feeling of calm - the same one that comes in silence among beauty. The rock is located next to the Blue Bay and the rocky island of Zhumbaktas, you can climb the rock, it offers a beautiful panorama of the lake and the Burabay National Park. The rock got its name in honor of the great writer Maxim Gorky. There is no exact information about his visit to these places, but local residents and travelers noted that the outline of the rock resembles the silhouette of a man thoughtfully peering into the distance - as if the writer himself, embodied in stone. This metaphor took root, and the name became part of the legend. The shape of the rock is unique. On one side it steeply drops to the water, on the other - it rises in terraces upward, making it possible to climb to its top. Next to the rock rises another landmark of the park - the mountain-rock Okzhetpes and behind it Mount Kokshetau (Sinyukha) and the rocks "Three Sisters".
