Miketovo Lake in the mountains of the Dzungarian Alatau

Little-known natural attractions of Zhetysu region -

Miketovo Lake Dzungarian Alatau Jeep Tour -

Lake Miketovo is one of the most picturesque mountain lakes of the Dzungarian Alatau, hidden in the foothill part of the range, located in the Zhetysu region. It is a real natural oasis located among majestic mountain hills, coniferous forests and alpine meadows. Getting here is not easy, the place is little known and little visited, it is not marked on any maps. There is an abandoned small house on the shore of the lake, which apparently used to be inhabited by someone. The water in the lake is crystal clear, has a rich bluish-green hue, and on sunny days the surface reflects the peaks of the Dzungarian Alatau and snow-white clouds, creating a feeling of fabulous unreality. The lake is fed mainly by the meltwater of glaciers and springs, so the water here is always cool, even in the height of summer.

How to get there and visit -

Miketovo Lake is located in the mountains of the Dzungarian Alatau in the Zhetysu region, Republic of Kazakhstan.

Information -

The nature around Lake Miketovo is truly wild and untouched. Shrenka spruce, Tien Shan fir, shrubs and various grasses grow on the slopes. In spring and summer, the alpine meadows around the lake are covered with a carpet of flowers. The fauna of the area is also rich: you can meet marmots, mountain goats, roe deer, and see golden eagles or falcons in the sky. Frogs can be found along the shores of the lake and traces of wild animals can be seen coming here to drink.
Lake Miketovo is not only a natural gem, but also a place surrounded by peace and quiet. There is no noise of civilization here, only the splashing of water, the singing of birds and the sound of the wind in the surrounding hills. According to legend, the locals have considered these places sacred since ancient times, associating the lake with legends about mountain spirits and guardians of the waters.
Today, Miketovo is a popular destination for hiking, horseback riding, and photography, especially during the summer season, when the trails are free of snow and nature is in full bloom. This is an ideal place for those who are looking for harmony with nature and want to see one of the most beautiful pearls of the Dzungarian Alatau in its pristine form.
